As part of our summer exchange programme RUCC will now be meeting in the College Arms, Wokingham Road on Monday nights from 9.00 onwards. A map showing location is here

Apparently the College Arms serves Fosters, Kronenbourg, John Smiths Smooth, Guinness, Guinness Extra Cold, Strongbow Cider and Marston’s Pedigree. Monday night is curry Night from 8pm – 10pm (curry, rice & garlic bread for only £3.45). There’s 60 car parking spaces, a wi-fi hotspot, a cash machine, two pool tables, a dart board, and a digital juke box. See, I’ve been doing research. Hope to see you there.

So farewell, then…

Kate, who is leaving us for the flatness of Cambridgeshire. In celebration of her departure the club are requested to congregate in the Back of Beyond on Thursday 22nd, from 7.30 onwards. Which by happy coincidence is the same venue/time as Mark’s visit (see below). Please make sure you attend this double celebration/farewell and enjoy all the economies of scale/effort it involves. Sadly the ferret will not be in attendance.

Trip To The Back Of Beyond (and back again)

mark_4_2.JPG

Some of you may remember Mark Horswill, a founding father of the modern club and part of the bedrock on which the club built its foundations. Having gone to live in Australia Mark finds himself back here and in the Back of Beyond, Kings Road on Thursday 22nd January, from 8.00 pm onwards. All welcome – you can ask him about the old days when they used to pad their boiler suits out with moss to keep warm.

Xmas Party Extravaganza

leppy.jpg

Christmas Party! Meeting time 3pm at John’s House for reception drinks, and a full Christmas dinner will be served at approx 4:30. More info is on the ‘Diary’ page, not the ‘Trips’ page – sorry for confusion.

The theme is confirmed as ‘Landmarks and Leprechauns’ i.e. you should come dressed as either a landmark, a leprechaun or an Irish Landmark for bonus points!

We would like to thank JohnK for very kindly offering his place for the event. There will be a round up of the terms events including awards and prizes. Rumour has it that there will also be a cave ‘challenge’ in the back garden as well as other crazy antics and games. Including the new game taking the nation by storm “beer pong” (Sponsored by speleolabs) and the “Shamrock Challenge”

John lives at 77 Elgar Rd, please see map link here
Overnight accomodation will be available for whoever needs/wants to stay. Bring a sleeping bag.

And the winner is….

John Majeciwz! Yes, John’s many years of drinking experience and enlarged gullet assured him victory in the inaugural RUCC Pub Golf competition. Congratulations to him on his perfect round, along with everyone else involved in the exceptionally silly dancing toward the end of the evening. And get well soon John K.
